3 Tips to Simplify Your Life

Simple living is different for everyone, but in general it means that you are getting rid of all the extra “noise” in your life, so that you can have more time for the things you love and enjoy—like spending time with your family & friends or taking vacations.

It even helps to improve your overall health!

Here’s my advice:

First, Simplify Your Mind. When you’re anxious, your mind puts your body in a “fight or flight” mode, which can cause higher blood pressure, a compromised immune system and even depression.

What helps? Take a walk in the morning or evening. This releases neurotransmitters, like serotonin, in the brain that will help reduce anxiety.

Next, Simplify Your Home. Clutter can leave you with negative feelings about your home, and negative feelings about yourself and your ability to keep things organized.

Ask yourself: “Does this item bring me joy?” If the answer is no, get rid of it.

I’ve also found that buying a low-maintenance home within walking distance of shops and restaurants leaves me more time to travel, enjoy life, and enjoy my neighborhood!

Then, Simplify Your Diet. In other words, like the popular phrase goes, “eat clean.” Go for one-ingredient foods like chicken, apples, spinach, potatoes, lettuce, oatmeal, rice, carrots…all in an attempt to make your body feel better and run at an optimal level.

Eating processed or junk foods only bog your system down and in turn, can make things complicated for your organs, digestive system, and cardiovascular system.

Simplifying Your Life doesn’t necessarily mean doing without. Rather, slow down and live a more balanced, deliberate, and thoughtful life. And as research increasingly shows, you’ll reap a healthier life as well.
