Were you involved in sports or anything like that throughout high school?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah, in high school I was in football.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah? What position did you play?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Linebacker.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Linebacker, so you\u2019re all over the field. What got you started into training?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Well, I got in a car wreck and then I was just sitting around at the house so I decided I needed to do something better for myself, so I wanted to start training.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Absolutely. And tell me a little bit about the car accident\u2014kind of what happened?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Well, it was really bad. It was almost 4 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Right&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: My brother and my girlfriend were with me and I was riding with my brother in his car. They both died.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: I\u2019m sorry to hear that. I\u2019m sorry to hear that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Besides physical injuries, Dustin <\/strong><strong>also sustained a brain injury.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He was in a coma for 3 weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He still has trouble with his left hand <\/strong><strong>and he says his brain &#8220;moves slower&#8230;<\/strong><strong>but it&#8217;s all getting better now.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ian: So what about from your perspective? How did that impact your life from a physical standpoint?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: It affected me really bad. I had to relearn to do everything.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: So lots of physical therapy?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: So really, weight training and personal training was more almost like post-therapy recovery still for you, to a big degree.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: It still is.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Absolutely, and it\u2019s always going to be like that. I mean that\u2019s the thing with fitness, it\u2019s&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: My life now.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Exactly, but it\u2019s great that you got on the right track after such a traumatic accident.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Exactly. I did.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Absolutely. So tell me a little bit about your specific goals that you\u2019ve accomplished since relearning basically how to walk. Outside of the basic, fundamental stuff, where have you gotten since then?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Lots of places.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Since I started training with Jared, I learned to ride a bike and drive a car.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Wow.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: That\u2019s pretty awesome.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: That\u2019s incredible.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: I put on like 10 pounds of muscle and lost almost 10 pounds of fat.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: That\u2019s incredible; it\u2019s a huge body composition change for you.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Pretty much.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: What would you say your life is like now because of the achievements you\u2019ve gotten with Jared and with New Wave?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: I like the schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: It\u2019s pretty [much the] same all the time. I want to be normal.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Diet is a big part of getting better.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: How you eat.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah? So have you made some pretty good nutritional changes since you\u2019ve been working out with us?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah, pretty crazy.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah? So tell me a little bit about like what your eating habits are like now.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Well, just like protein.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Yeah? Lots of protein.<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah, lots of protein.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: And good produce and good vegetables and fruit to go along with it?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah, lots of veggies and fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Great, great. All right, so tell me what you might say to someone that is on the fence about making a decision to seek professional help for their health and fitness?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: It\u2019s good that you want to get better but you need someone that\u2019s professional to help you.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Right, it\u2019s just much easier&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: It\u2019s easier, yeah.<\/p>\n<p>Ian: Much easier to get them to kind of come over here and guide you through the moves, make sure we\u2019re doing it all right?<\/p>\n<p>Dustin: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;My definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>expecting different results, so I\u2019ve done this, trying to change <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>what I do. It\u2019s helped a lot.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Q: What is your biggest dream?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>&#8220;Being my old self.
