Time to take an honest assessment of where you are in life, and decide what you\u2019d like to achieve this coming year.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sad fact that the majority of folks NEVER see those resolutions come to fruition. That\u2019s why today, I\u2019d like to share with you a few tips that will help you stick with your resolutions, no matter what\u2014creating a NEW YOU!<\/p>\n<p>The major reason people don\u2019t follow through on their resolutions is FEAR. Change is scary, and committing to change is a scary endeavor, to be sure.<\/p>\n<p>But follow these tips and you should be able to nip fear in the bud and actually accomplish what you set out to achieve this year!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/01-be_specific.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/01-be_specific.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>1) Be specific.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>You may have heard this a million times, but all too often people make nonspecific resolutions like \u201cI want to get fit.\u201d Instead, drill down to exactly what you want.<\/p>\n<p>Try a resolution like, \u201cBy March 31st, I will be 10 pounds lighter.\u201d The specificity makes it more realistic and gives you a marker of success that lets you know you\u2019ve ARRIVED at your goal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/02-baby_steps.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8944\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/02-baby_steps.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>2) Baby steps.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The fact that you\u2019re making a resolution implies that you\u2019re trying to change something in your life that\u2019s pretty big. You\u2019ve been unhappy with it for some time, which is why you\u2019re resolving to change it. Therefore, most resolutions tend to be HUGE changes.<\/p>\n<p>Getting fit, getting out of debt, etc&#8230;are all BIG goals. So in order to achieve them, you\u2019re going to have to break them down into itty-bitty steps. It\u2019s like the old adage, \u201cHow do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Break down your resolution into \u201cmini\u201d resolutions that will serve as stepping stones to the bigger goal you want to achieve (i.e. I will walk around the neighborhood for 20 minutes every day. I will eat only 1,700 calories\/day for the next 30 days, etc.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/03-dont_resolve_to_change.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/03-dont_resolve_to_change.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>3) Don&#8217;t resolve to change what you can\u2019t control.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is a biggie. But make sure your resolutions are things that are directly under your control. For example, a resolution to get a \u201craise at work\u201d is something that is ultimately beyond your control. Instead, make the resolution to \u201cstart my own part-time online business to give MYSELF the raise I want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/04-share_your_resolutions.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8947\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/04-share_your_resolutions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>4) Share your resolutions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Let others know what you\u2019re planning. Doing so will give you a sense of accountability that will help push you\u2014especially during those times where you don\u2019t \u201cfeel\u201d like doing the actions you KNOW will get you to your goals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/05-no_fear.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newwavefitness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/05-no_fear.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>5) No fear.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finally, don\u2019t let fear get in the way of what you really want. Instead of dwelling on \u201cwhat if\u2019s,\u201d take action.
